Here is a closeup of the lift-lid cam assembly. The
cam was made out of two thinner pieces of steel and brazed together.
The guide tubes were a little too big OD for the rod, so I brazed
1/4" flat washers on the ends and drilled out with a 1/2"
drill bit. It was a perfect fit. The hardest part of this job was
drilling the 3/4" holes at an angle in the brackets for the guide
tubes to pass through. Cotter pins through the rod on each side of the
guide tube prevent the rod from sliding side to side.
