Here is the lid with the reinforcing wire in place. I
used old wire coat hangers for this task. On the right is a coupling
with 1/4-20 internal threads for attaching the handle to the outside
of the lid. This will help hold the refractory in the lid when it is
turned over and sitting on the bottom of the furnace.
